Your Child’s First Visit

No referrals needed!

Waiting for the permanent teeth to erupt? Or for a referral from a dentist? No need! The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic consultation at age 7 because this is generally when the permanent teeth begin to erupt and the jaws are developing. Children will receive a free consultation and free Growth Observation checks until they are ready for orthodontic treatment.

At each of your child visit, Dr. Alexander and Dr. Hoffman will make sure that all of the permanent teeth are erupting in the right place at the right time. They will also evaluate the growth of the upper and lower jaws. The doctors will take time to visit with you, answer any questions, and educate you about your child’s teeth and bite so that you can plan for any future treatment needs.

Most of the time, the recommendation is to wait because your child is growing normally. Sometimes treatment is needed to correct an eruption or growth problem or to prevent more significant problems in the future. Dr. Alexander and Dr. Hoffman are very conservative when it comes to early treatment. They will only recommend the treatment that they would recommend for their own kids!
